This week Chris, Dave, and I bring you foraging for food and health. First though we get the usual fun stuff out of the way. We also talk a little about some current events and how Scotland may have its own little Bate’s Motel thing going on, Dave found dueling bag-pipe music in a deliverance theme just for that article. Oh and watch for falling launch pads from China with love.
Our main topic this week is about foraging for edible and medicinal plants. We each give some plants and talk briefly on each of them. The plants we cover include wild grapes, wild carrot, wild asparagus, black berries, peppermint, lamb’s quarter, dandelion, plantain, ground ivy, stinging nettles, pine trees, spruce trees, wild roses, elderberry, comfrey, burdock, cattail, and milkweed. Some good reference books that we mention are Wild Berries & Fruits Field Guide, Peterson Field Guides: Edible Wild Plants, Midwest Medicinal Plants, and How To Survive In The Woods.
